“He tends to wander off.”

A recent description of me, one friend to another, before a recent fishing trip.

When it got back to me, I laughed. I couldn’t argue. I do.

And rivers bring it out. Down stream when floating or paddling, upstream when on foot. What’s over the horizon line, around the next bend, above that pool? Steelhead? More unexplored river and landscape? I want to see it all.

It’s been an interesting few years, returning home after 40 years away. Exploring some of what I missed, some of what I dreamed of exploring when I was a kid. I’ll never get to it all- I don’t have enough time left- but I’ll see as much as I can. Places close by, my new local rivers, and more distant too.

I’ll share when I do. At least some of it. Nothing too specific. You’ve got to wander off on your own. Trust me, it’s good for you.
